It is a glorious summer day with a nice cool south easterly breeze
blowing across the ground
The toss is scheduled for 12:00 GMT at which time we will bring you
the teams
The players are out on the field with the South Africans doing
various drills and the Pakistani Team currently having a bit of a
team talk
The spectators are slowly starting to trickle into the ground
although the grass banks away to my right are already close to
capacity
Music playing through the sound system is keeping the crowd tapping
their feet as they watch the two teams warming up on the field
Bowling runups being marked out for the South African Team by their
bowling Coach Corrie van Zyl and the boys and girls are holding
out various bits of paraphernalia for the players to sign
Atmosphere is a festive one with everyone looking forward to a
great days cricket
Waqar making his way to the pitch in preparation of the Toss
Pollock now doing the same amidst cheers from the grass banks
Clive Lloyd overseeing things as the coin goes up and Pollock has
won the toss for South Africa
As expected South Africa have elected to bat with Klusener being
left out for Hall and Zondeki coming in for Donald who has a
slight ankle niggle
For Pakistan, Wasim has not recovered and Sami is in in place of
Shoaib. Akmal retains his place due to Latif still having a
slight niggle himself

calls to stand coming from the announcer as the Pakistani Anthem

so particularly once Pollock had sorted out the 20 overs needed
from 3 bowlers due to the fact that he had 6 bowlers to choose
from
This was the one area where Pakistan were found wanting and it was
Boucher's little gem of an innings that took it away from them
when they had no one else to turn to
After early pressure Pollock got it right bringing himself and
Ntini back after the Pakistani batsmen had done well to get them
back on track
At this point the run rate steadily started to increase from the
just over 6 and a half mark to above 7 and a half and put pressure
on the batsmen to look for at least one boundry an over
It was this factor that finally caused the run out of Younis Khan
and saw any possibility of a win being taken from their grasp
although Afridi much shoulder the blame for this particular
dismissal
Rhodes was nominated Man of the Match with Man of the Series going
