Sri Lankan skipper Sanath Jayasuriya has recovered from his

Pakistan's Waqar Younis feels that the high expectations from the
host country fans will weigh heavily on the Sri Lankan players'

Waqar added: 'They have also been playing some very good cricket at
the moment, but I think, as hosts, they will be under the most
pressure in the opening game of the tournament.
There will be some comfort for Sri Lankan batsmen that they are
playing on a traditionally slow pitch, perfectly suited to the
host's spin-based attack. Sri Lanka have won 30 of the 42 matches
that they have played at this venue.
But the pitch may offer a few surprises and should be batting-
friendly, so the side winning the toss is expected to bat first,
as is normal on the subcontinent.
Sri Lanka have the same team that won the Morocco Cup, sticking
with third pacer Pulasthi Gunaratne over off-spinner Kumara
Dharmasena to support Chaminda Vaas and Dilhara Fernando in the
late overs.
Pakistan will be hoping to regain the form that saw them defeat the
Australians in June and more a determined performance from their
batsmen rather than the tame procession seen in Kenya.
They will also need to put right the wayward bowling by ace Wasim
Akram and get an opening pair settled, but they do have Yousuf
Youhana back, as well as a fit Inzamam in the middle order.
Lots of hype and hope surrounds Shoaib Akhtar from a crowd looking
for entertainment, and he has promised: 'I'll still be fast and
furious, but my main aim is to take wickets for Pakistan.'

What a performance by the Lankan bowlers, they gave no quarter,
bowled on line and length and made sure they got the early wickets

losing Afridi early the some irresolute batting with a silly run

Saeed did get to 52 and Mibah coming in late got to 47 but wickets

Pakistan never looked in this game right from the start, an 8
wicket win for Sri lanka and a standing ovation for Jayasuriya
The Pakistan bowlers threatened early on but were a bit unfortunate
on a couple of decisions, I dont think it would have mattered,
they did not have enough runs to make a game of it anyway
In the first session the Pakistan batting was as fragile as ever,
getting to only 200, not enough in modern One-day cricket
The lankans lost a couple of quick wickets but Jaysuriya was there
throughout and then partnered de Silva to score an emphatic win
although looked sore all along after his return from shoulder
injury
This essentially means Pakistan are knocked out as its unlikey that
SL would lose to Holland
So a win for Sri lanka and a lot of head scratching for Pakistan
