Australia v Bangladesh at Colombo (SSC), 19 Sep 2002

Ball-by-Ball Commentary

Match State: Match start scheduled for 0400 GMT (10:00 local)

Good Morning all as we bring you another pool match in the ICC
        Champions Trophy, Australia versus Bangladesh.
Australia have had to bring in Jimmy Maher who takes the place of
Damien Martyn, who suffered a hip injury while top-scoring with 73
in Australia's 164-run win over New Zealand on Sunday.
Australia are well on their way to reach the semi final, as most
feel beating Bangladesh is only a formality.
Ricky Ponting said 'Damien picked up a slight strain in his hip
while batting. He tried to have a run about yesterday but
aggravated it so he stayed at the hotel today and we'll see if he
can get over it with the semi-finals coming up.
Maher's inclusion is the only change to Australia's side today and
Michael Bevan should be batting at number four.
Australia have played Bangladesh twice before and have easily won
        both games
Bangladesh on the other hand will try their utmost to make a mark
on this tournament. They have not had a good time since getting
Test status and will be out there to show they fully deserve it.
Its a used wicket and dry, should be a good for batting.
Toss has been won by Bangladesh and will be batting first.
Mazharul Haque is on debut for Bangladesh today.
The Australian team is: "Ricky Ponting (captain), Michael Bevan,
Adam Gilchrist, Jason Gillespie, Matthew Hayden, Brett Lee, Darren
Lehmann, Jimmy Maher, Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne, Shane Watson.

Well Bangladesh have set a 130 run target, not quite what was
needed to make a fight of it but their middle order did bat well
with Tushar, the skipper Khaled Mashud and particularly Alok
Kapali putting up a fine performance
Gillespie was dazzling early on giving nothing away and picked up 3
for 20, definitely the pick of the bowlers
Expectedly a fine job done by Australia but credit to Bangladesh
