Morning all for live coverage of Australia in Pakistan Test series
being hosted in Colombo and Sharjah. This is the first day in the
final match of the 3-Test series.
Australia have already won the rubber 2-0 and in this Test they
will be looking to make a clean sweep with Pakistan struggling
with injuries and blooding in new players at the highest level.
Pakistan would be looking for some improvement after the debacle in
the last test. However, they have suffered another blow as Shoaib
Akhtar has returned home with a back problem.
Pakistan's coach Richard Pybus seems to have provoked a row by
suggesting that Waugh and his twin Mark might be reaching the end
of their Test careers after they failed to score centuries in last
11 Tests since last year's tour of England.
Steve Waugh brushed this aside saying, "I think when you see
Australia play, you see a result and that's not happened
everywhere. It's a very successful side and time will be the
judge. We guys can still raise our side.
Waqar has said, "What has happened in the past can't be reversed,
but we are looking for a much improved performance in this Test.
Adding,
The weather is a little better for the players, in the top 30's and
the pitch is far drier and has cracks, batting first is the
reccomendation after winning the toss.
The toss has been won by Australia and they will bat, and Steve
Waugh expects some turn on this track.

It has been a remarkable Test series. The series had to be played
at neutral venues - after Australia refused to tour Pakistan,
because of the security concerns they had
They won the first Test played in Colombo, soon after the ICCCT,
They were winners by 41 runs - Warne picking up 11 wickets in that
match. That was the only game where Pakistan had a realistic
chance of being in the game.
The second Test was played under conditions best described as
unbearable - buring hot. Not a brilliant idea to play a Test
match in that kind of heat in Sharjah
Australia didn't spend much time in the sun though, finishing off
the game well within 2 days, destorying Pakistan by Innings and
198 runs
Pakistan were bowled out for such low scores as 59 and 53
And now another innings win in the third match. Aussies could not
have asked for a better warm up for the upcoming Ashes series
Certainly there have been some excellent performances - that should
be mentioned - Ponting scoring a hundred in the first Test and in
the final one, Hayden scoring a hundred in the second Test and
then a 89 in the final Test.
Steve Waugh got to his 28th Test hundred in this Test match.
Now the Award ceremony is on.

Australia now taken on England in the Ashes series at home, could
