Match State: Match start scheduled for 9 am local time (3.30 am GMT)
Hello and welcome to Faridabad for the start of the One-Day series
between India and Zimbabwe
There's a buzz around the ground here and as usual the limited over
games inspire a lot of excitement
There's a bit of grass on the wicket and moisture in the air, this
should give the fast bowlers something to work with early on
Early breakthroughs are essential in conditions like this and the
seamers have their task cut out - bowl a good line and length
without allowing the batsmen too much time to settle in
The wicket is rock hard and should be good for batting all through
the day
You have to say India are the favourites going into this game. Of
36 ODIs played between the two countries, India have won 28, with
Zimbabwe on top in 6 and two ties.
In India, Zimbabwe has won just 1 of 14 clashes with one match
being tied and India winning 12
India have been forced to make many changes to their team - losing
the their two most exciting batsmen, Sachin Tendulkar and Virender
Sehwag due to injury
The absence of key players gives youngsters a chance to prove their
mettle
Traditionally India do not have a good record at Faridabad. Of the
four One-Dayers played here the home side has lost three matches,
winning just one - against Zimbabwe in 1993.
There's going to be a few changes in the Zimbabwe squad - both in
terms of composition and batting order
Sourav Ganguly has won the toss and elected to bat first
The teams for this match are as follows:
Zimbabwe: Alistair Campbell, Craig Wishart, Travis Friend, Andy
Flower, Dion Ebrahim, Grant Flower, Stuart Carlisle (C), Heath
Streak, Tatenda Taibu, Douglas Marillier, Gary Brent, Douglas
Hondo (12th Man)
India: SC Ganguly (C), D Mongia, SS Das, VVS Laxman, R Dravid, SB
Bangar, M Kaif, +A Ratra, A Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Z Khan, AB
Agarkar

Has been an up and down innings from India - great excitement all
around
After beginning quite well, India slowed down, with Mongia falling.
Laxman and Ganguly put on 77 for the second wicket before the
Indian skipper was brilliantly stumped by Taibu
Laxman continued to blossom, scoring 75 of the finest runs,
stroking the ball elegantly in characteristic fashion, the
Hyderabadi stylist was in form when he was needlessly run out
Md Kaif (39*) batted well in the middle order but it was a late
blitz by Agarkar (40*, 19 balls, 6 fours, 1 six) that saw India
reach a good score
For the visitors, Grant Flower with 1/31 from 10 overs was the pick
of the bowlers with everyone else being quite expensive. Grant
Flower however bowled very tidily.

Marillier!
What an incredible game of cricket this has been! Just when
Zimbabwe were down and out... when everyone was writing them off,,
one man played an absolute blinder!
Douglas Marillier with some of the most incredible innovations you
have ever seen in limited overs cricket smashed 56 not out off 24
balls with 10 fours and 1 six to take Zimbabwe to a blistering win
There have been some great run chases in the history of this game
but you can be sure this is right up there with any of them!
The excitement is palpable, and there really can be no doubt who
the man of the match is Doug Marillier. Let's just wait for the
official version though!
Anil Kumble, usually one of the most stingy bowlers in world
cricket when for 70 from 9.4 overs, Zaheer Khan who had 4/15 from
8 overs ended with 4/47 from 10!
India have managed it again - snatched defeat from the jaws of
victory!
All credit to Zimbabwe, they have pulled off a win that is the
stuff dreams are made off - Marillier clearly the hero on the day.
You can be sure he will be the toast of all Zimbabwe today!
After being comprehensively outplayed in the Tests Zimbabwe have
bounced back in tremendous fashion. This win will boost their
morale no end going in to the remaining 4 matches!
