Welcome to this all important second final of the VB Series,
between South Africa and New Zealand
South Africa hold a one nil lead after their comfortable victory in
Melbourne two days ago
South Africa however will not be taking this match lightly, after
finishing runners up in the two other times they've competed in
this tournament after squandering a 1-0 both times in 1993/94 and
1997/98, they will be keen to finish this series off today
The one difference this time however is that its not Australia -
often a thorn in the side of the South Africans - they are
competing against, but New Zealand - a team who has only beaten
South Africa once in their past 17 one-day meetings
But New Zealand are a talented and determined side, and certainly
not a team to be treated softly - as the Australians learnt the
hard way - and it would surprise few if they could win these
remaining two final matches
This city has seen plenty of rain over the last week but at the
moment the Sydney Cricket Ground is bathed in glorious sunshine,
it would seem the best weather has been saved for the cricket, an
on time start now looking certain
Rain later this evening however remains a possibility
Just over half an hour to go before the start of play, not a big
turn out yet with the home side not playing, despite the match
being a sell out
