of the VB Series
A clash between two sides both coming off losses to South Africa,
Australia in particular will be desperate for points today,
finding themselves in the unfamiliar spot of bottom of the table
The teams have been finalised, and again it seems its not good to
be a Queenslander - Bulls players Matthew Hayden ommitted for Mark
Waugh's return, which means debutant Ryan Campbell shall open the
batting
Andy Symonds swapped for fellow all-rounder Ian Harvey, whilst
Andrew Bichel is the unlucky bowler to make way for Glenn McGrath
returning from his one match suspension
New Zealand meanwhile also have a debutant at the top of the order,
young batsman Brendon McCullum will open the batting, shuffling
the rest of the New Zealand order down, all-rounder Scott Styris
the casuality
The winner of the toss is New Zealand's Chris Cairns - yes thats
right Cairns - we're unsure of what's happened to Fleming at the
moment, and has elected to bat
And now its confirmed, Stephen Fleming will not play, obviously
Cairns is captain, and Scott Styris has not lost his spot in the
side after all
Stephen Fleming has a suspected broken hand, which he injured
during the pre-match warm up, he has gone to hospital for x-rays
Correction to that, it is in fact Fleming's arm or elbow he has
taken a blow to

Well another brave fightback by New Zealand just when Australia
looked to have things under control with Bevan and Martyn coasting
along a late order collapse began
These late order collapses must certainly be a worry for the
Aussies, as it has cost them dearly in all three of their matches
so far
New Zealand now equal on points with the top placed South Africa,
whilst Australia sit on the bottom of the table and the finals
looking a distant way away now for them now
One wonders how long Australia can persist with this policy of not
picking their best XI - leaving out top class batsmen of the
calibre of Matthew Hayden and Darren Lehmann in particular - and
watch the team crumble to bits because of it
Certainly many question marks remain over some of the players in
this Australian side
For New Zealand however, even without skipper Stephen Fleming they
have fought to a gutsy win, despite appearing to be lagging behind
in both innings, Chris Harris again the star his 42 not out from
43 balls and 3/37 from 8.2 overs
Harris picked up the man of the match award for his troubles
