Good morning, welcome to the W.A.C.A ground in Perth for the first
days play in the 6th match of the 2001-02 Pura Cup series.
The news is that Damien Martyn has been passed fit to play.
Martyn suffered thigh soreness and batted with a runner in the
latter stages of his century vs Tasmania in Wednesday night's ING
Cup game at the W.A.C.A. Ground. As a precautionary measure Martyn
did not field during the Tasmanian innings.
Ross Clifford - Physiotherapist for the Western Warriors -
administered treatment to Martyn's sore thigh during and following
Wednesday night's game. Treatment to Martyn's injury is ongoing.
Melville opening batsman Scott Meuleman had been included in the
squad on stand-by in case Martyn was unable to play. This will be
disappointing for the Melville batsman who has compiled back to
back centuries in the WA 1st division.
Former Warrior Michael Dighton is set to back his debut for
Tasmania facing his old club for a long awaited return to First
Class cricket.
The only other news is that this match is the 50th First Class
match for Darryl Harper.
The Western Warriors have won the toss and will field first.
