An amazing day at the Sydney Cricket Ground today, 20 wickets
falling. Darren Lehmann's decision to put NSW into bat looked
brilliant when he got the home side out for 188.
But then South Australia, in reply, fell for 142.. to some extent
self-destructing.
The star of the day was undoubtedly Jason Gillespie with a career-
best 8/50, the best innings haul in first-class cricket in
Australia since David Freedman took 8/49 for NSW against the West
Indies six years ago.
New South Wales have the first innings points, but the outright
result is still very much up in the air. It does look, however, as
if this match won't make it into the fourth day on Monday.
The status of the game, New South Wales lead by 62 runs with ten
second-innings wickets in hand.
