Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening - wherever you are
This is again your favourite CricInfo.com LIVE text commentary
This is the climax of a great series
This is the last match of the Australian tour in India
The Indians fought back after losing the first Test and took the
series 2-1
Thats history now
The 5-match ODI series is locked at 2-2 now
India won the first and 3rd matches in Bangalore and Indore
Australians took the 2nd and 4th match at Pune and Vizag
The Australians would be wanting to leave the shores of India with
the ODI series
But Ganguly & Co. would not want that to happen
India has never lost a 2-team ODI series in India for the past 13
years
They would be hoping to keep this record intact
Then the same old story - the Australians are real fighters and
will want to go back home with something atleast as they have lost
the Test Series too
The umpires for this game are F Gomes and Subrato Porel (both from
Calcutta)
The 3rd umpire is K Murali from Tamil Nadu
As you all know, the match referee is Cammie Smith from West Indies
Might get a good scoring game again - but not too high like over
300
There will be some assistance for the seamers early in the game -
also the spinners will get some help towards the end
This is again Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, for the third time in this
series after Pune and Indore
Ganguly decides to bat first after winning the toss
Glenn Donald McGrath to start as always
Straight away going round the wicket to the left handed skipper
As usual, a few problems with the sight screen and so the start is

Match State: Innings Break
Thats the end of the Indian innings
India had a slow start after losing Tendulkar early
But came back well scoring quickly helped by Ganguly's 74 and
Laxman's 101
Again they fell apart in the last 10 overs scoring just 48 runs and
finishing with just 265
265 might be a good score to defend on this wicket
But they way they batted in the middle overs, they should have got
some more runs, atleast over 275-280
They have batted in the same way they did in Pune in the 2nd match
of the series
MArk Waugh made a mockery of the target and got his team to victory
Today he is not there for the Aussies

Michael Gwyl Bevan does it for Australia
A magnificient 87* off 113 balls gets Australia to victory in this
match and series
India failed in the end overs to use their good start given by
Ganguly and Laxman
Scoring just 48 runs off the last 10 overs did not do any good to
them
Laxman's good knock goes in vain
One good thing the Indians might take from the match is that their
skipper getting back to form
The middle order did not click for India today and they ended up
making 265 when they should have made 280
Those 15 runs would have really made a big difference
India yet again losing in Goa
They also lose the record of not losing a 2-team ODI series in
India for 13 years
But the Australians came out to bat with all guns blazing
Hayden and Gilchrist scored heavily to start with and Hayden fell
less than 50 for the first time in this series
Gilchrist carried on though he lost Ponting cheaply and made a very
good 76 before he was bowled by Tendulkar
Tendulkar failed with the bat today - but contributed with the ball
taking 3/35 off his 10 overs
In the process he also got his 100th ODI wicket when he got rid of
Steve Waugh
At that stage India lokked to be on the track for a win
But Harvey supported Bevan's super effort very well and Australia
took the series 3-2
The main turning point could well have been that 44th over Srinath
when he gave away 11 runs
This series has been very significiant in all possible ways
Steve Waugh comign to India wanting to win a Test series
But he failed to do so with super efforts from Harbhajan and Laxman
preventing him to do that
But the Aussies fought back well after losing the Test series and
the first ODI and have taken this ODI series
Ganguly says that they lost the game in the last 10 overs when they
batted
He also feels that they gave away a lot of runs in the first 15
overs when bowling
He says the pitch stopped a bit to start with and feels they should
have bowled better
He thanks Andrew Leipus, John Wright and Chetan Chauhan
Says he wants to win a series abroad hoping on the Zimbabwe series
Steve Waugh receiving the Pepsi Trophy
He praises Bevan and says he is the best ODI batsman in the world
He also says the openers gave them a very good start
Says he is pleased about the team's commitment
He looks forward to a good rest before the Ashes
Still hopes to win a Test series here in India atleast next time
when Australia comes back
Cammie Smith congratulates Australia on winning the series
Forgets the name of the Indian who got the hundred, recollects it
and says VVS Laxman
He adjudicates the man of the match as Micheal Gwyl Bevan
Bevan says that the openers' start helped him pace his innings well
Cammie Smith decides Matthew Lawrence Hayden to be the Man of this
ODI series
Hayden feels very delighted about this tour as he scored well over
1000 runs in this tour
Gives credit to the crowds
Praises Gilchrist as a dynamic player
He feels that the turning point was the situations when the team
needed good runs
Remember, Hayden was not part of the ODI series, but stayed back as
he performed marvellously well in the Tests and now he is the man
of the series
