Milestones await Sri Lankan cricketers

During the one-off cricket Test against England starting at the Foster's Oval in London on Thursday, several Sri Lankan players are due to reach personal milestones in their Test career.

Vice-captain Aravinda de Silva requires only three runs to become the first Sri Lankan to cross the 5,000-run mark in Test cricket, while Marvan Atapattu needs 13 for 1,000 runs and Hashan Tilleratne, 121 for 3,000 runs.

Of the bowlers, Ravindra Pushpakumara requires three wickets to reach a total of 50, and Muthiah Muralitharan, is 13 wickets away from becoming the first Sri Lankan to top the 200-wicket mark in Test cricket.

The Test is Sri Lanka's final one for the current year. They have so far played seven, won four and lost three.
