New Zealand batsmen who have been struggling to come to terms with spin on Sri Lankan soil will again be put to the test when they confront India in a Singer-Akai Nidahas trophy day/night encounter at the R. Premadasa Stadium today.

Following their sensational collapse in the match against Sri Lanka on Sunday which they lost by seven wickets, the Kiwis will need to put up a better show if they hope to be in contention in the competition.

Although possessing a young side with a lot of talented players, the Kiwis have fallen short of expectations which should be a big worry for coach Steve Rixon, who have spoken in glowing terms of his young disciples.

The pitch for today's game is a new one, unlike the one on Sunday which was the same used for the opening game of the competition between Sri Lanka and India on Friday.

India began the triangular on a high note beating Sri Lanka by eight wickets and will be looking to stretch their winning run.

After two games in the competition, India and Sri Lanka have two points each with New Zealand still looking for their first.
