AXA Equity & Law Sunday League GLOUCS v DERBYS: Cheltenham

Simon Base returned Sunday best figures of 4 14 as under strength
Derbyshire still proved too strong for the hosts.
Gloucestershire were skittled out for just 99 in 36  overs   only
21  year  old  Tim  Hancock (36) offering any resistance  hitting
five fours.
By contrast  Derbyshire knocked off their victory  target  inside
an hour Chris Adams (58) leading the charge with two sixes and 10
boundaries.

AXA Equity & Law Sunday League ESSEX v WORCS: Chelmsford

Graeme Hick hit a magnificent 120 not out to steer Worcestershire
home by four wickets.
His  116  ball stay included three fours and five sixes  the last
of which came off John Stephenson to clinch victory with nine de-
liveries to spare.
Earlier  Stephenson's  unbeaten 103 proved the basis for a useful
248 4 by the hosts  the opener smashing nine fours and a six.

AXA Equity & Law Sunday League HANTS v WARWICKS: Southampton

Robin Smith upstaged Asif Din by hitting a match winning  century
for the home side.
He  shared  a  second  wicket stand of 194 with Paul Terry (74no)
ending unbeaten on 118 as Hampshire won by nine wickets with  al-
most five overs to spare.
His  effort  took  the gloss off Din's 132 not out  a Sunday best
for a Warwicks batsman since the competition began  as the  visi-
tors made 232 6.

AXA Equity & Law Sunday League DURHAM v SUSSEX: Durham Univ

Sussex  skipper  Alan Wells built on a fine all round performance
by Neil Lenham to steer his side home for a two wicket success.
Wells hit an unbeaten 69 off 136 balls and Lenham 34 as the visi-
tors reached 195 8 with three deliveries left.
Lenham had collected Sunday best figures of 5 28 as Durham strug-
gled to 120 8 before ending on 194 8  skipper David Graveney hit-
ting 33 not out.

AXA Equity & Law Sunday League SOMERSET v YORKSHIRE: Taunton

Yorkshire  all  rounder  Peter Hartley smashed 46 off 42 balls as
the visitors pulled off a four wicket win.
Hartley  who took three wickets in the Somerset  innings   joined
West  Indian  Test ace Richie Richardson (58no) with the score on
123 6 in reply to 202 6.
Mushtaq Ahmed bowled struggling Somerset into their match winning
position  with  2  15. Andy Hayhurst had top scored for the hosts
with 80.

AXA Equity & Law Sunday League KENT v LEICS: Canterbury

A competition best 327 6 by Kent never  looked  under  threat  as
their 63 run triumph put them back top of the table.
Matthew  Fleming  (67no)  and  Graham Cowdrey (43) did the damage
with a sixth wicket stand of 75 in five overs Carl  Hooper  chip-
ping in with 64.
Leics  opener  Tim  Boon hit an unbeaten 135  a record for the 50
over contest and shared a 138  run  opening  stand  with  skipper
Nigel Briers (63).

AXA Equity & Law Sunday League SURREY v NOTTS: The Oval

A century in even time by David Ward earned the hosts a thrilling
success as they passed Notts's 314 7.
Ward hit three sixes and eight fours in his 87 ball  stay  as  he
and  Graham  Thorpe (94) added 159 runs in 20 overs for the fifth
wicket.
New Zealand Test all rounder Chris Cairns cracked an unbeaten 126
and was well supported by Paul Pollard (74) and Paul Johnson (55)
in the Notts innings.
