SUNLG: Review of R10, 11 Jul 1993

AXA Equity and Law League MORETON ON MARSH: Gloucs v Middx

Middlesex were denied a chance of a victory charge after rain
washed out their clash with Gloucestershire.
Former England opener Chris Broad hit 47 off 59 balls while
Richard Scott cracked 42 from 43 deliveries as Gloucestershire
were all out for 243.
Tony Wright (36) and Jack Russell (31) also weighed in with handy
contributions before rain washed out Middlesex's reply.

AXA Equity and Law League GRACE ROAD: Leics v Surrey
Leicester look set for a Lord's probe after their Sunday League
clash with Surrey was abandoned after just 11 overs for a
dangerous pitch.
Leics were 26 1 when umpires Jack Bond and Nigel Briers called
off the match after consultation with the captains.
Martin Bicknell and Joey Benjamin both made the ball life
alarmingly from just short of a length. TCCB pitch inspector
Harry Brind is likely to investigate.

AXA Equity and Law League TRENT BRIDGE: Notts v Worcs
New Zealand all rounder Chris Cairns led Nottinghamshire to their
second Sunday League victory of the season in a low scoring
contest with Worcs.
Cairns claimed three victims as Worcs were bowled out for 155 and
then hit a valuable 47 as Notts raced to a comfortable seven
wicket victory.
Derek Randall also passed 7 000 Sunday League runs during his
career with an unbeaten 30.

AXA Equity and Law League LLANELLI: Glamorgan v Sussex
Opener Stephen James scored a maiden Sunday century to move
Glamorgan to the AXA Equity and Law League summit with a 50 run
victory over Sussex.
James (107) forged a 120 run opening stand with Hugh Morris (67)
to help Glamorgan reach an impressive 269 8.
Peter Moores gave Glamorgan hope with a battling 56 before being
run out by a direct throw from Viv Richards as Sussex slumped to
219 all out.

AXA Equity and Law League SOUTHAMPTON: Hants v Somerset
Skipper Mark Nicholas top scored with an unbeaten 84 to steer
Hampshire to a seven wicket triumph over Somerset with seven
balls remaining at Southampton.
Nicholas shared in an unbroken 169 run stand with Paul Terry to
rescue Hants from defeat at 46 3.
Openers Mark Lathwell and Nick Folland forged a 107 run
partnership before Somerset lost all their wickets for 107 to
reach 214 all out.
