February 14 - March 18 1996, the 6th World Cup will be played in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. A total of 168 players, 14 from each of the 12 countries will play the World Cup.

HOW TO PLAY

  1. Pick 14 players out of the 168 players of the 12 participating teams. All teams must not include more than 2 players from any of the 12 participating countries.

  2. Once you have selected your Dream Team and your entry has been registered you are ready to play in the World Cup. The progress of your Dream Team will be calculated and monitored by the Dream Team Score System.

  3. The Dream Team Score System will calculate the performance of the players of each Dream Team. The winning Dream Team is decided on the basis of the following.
    SCORING SYSTEM
    
    Every run scored by your team member              1 point
    Every wicket taken by your bowler                20 points
    Every catch/stumping taken by your fielder        5 points
    
    The points of all 168 players, including those in your Dream Team, will be accumulated. At the end of the -Tournament, the Dream Team with the highest number of accumulated points will be declared the winner.

    not later than Friday, February 13, 1996. On receipt, your entry form will be offically registered in the Dream Team Competition. No amendment can be made once registration is completed. In the event of, and for whatever reason, the player/s selected by you does/do not play in one or more or all matches, the performance of only the remaining players in your team will be calculated. In the event of, and for whatever reason, a no match/abandoned match situation arises, no point will be awarded to the players.

  5. Your Dream Team must include atleast one wicketkeeper, 3 specialist batsman and 3 specialist bowlers.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. Applications for the Competition must be entered in the official Dream Team Entry Form to be published in DAWN Newspaper, Pakistan and to be presented on Cricinfo. The completed entry forms must reach Dawn no later than Tuesday, February 13, 1996.

  2. No fee is required to participate in the Dream Team Competition.

  3. Each Entry Form must carry your National Identity Card Number (if you are a Pakistani national) or Passport Number (if you are not a Pakistani national). Participants under 18 must send a photocopy of their parents I.D. Card. For participants outside Pakistan, each entry needs to mention the complete postal address of the participant.

  4. Only one Entry Form will be accepted per person. There is no limit to the number of application per household provided each application is accompanied by an original Entry Form.

  5. Your Dream Team must consist of 14 different players selected from among the 168 players officially included in World Cup and may include a maximum of two players from any of the 12 participating countries.

  6. Your Dream Team must include a minimum of: 1 wicket keeper, 3 specialist batsmen and 3 specialist bowlers.

  7. If your Team selection does not meet the selection criteria detailed above it will be disqualified.

  8. Incomplete, illegible or late applications will not be accepted. Dawn is not responsible for any applications lost or delayed in the course of transmission.

  9. There are no cash alternatives to any of the prizes awarded to the winners of the Dream Team Competition. In the event of a tie, the winners will be decided through a lucky draw, in which case the decision of PTV/DAWN will be final. Visas and/or any other supporting documentation related to the prizes is strictly the responsibility of the winner.

  10. The names of the winners will be announced/published in PTV/DAWN after March 19,1996.

  11. Although PTV/DAWN will make every effort to distribute the prizes as soon as possible, there may be a minimum one month gap between the announcement of the winners and the prize distribution. In case of delay beyond that period, the winner will be notified.

  12. Although PTV/DAWN will endeavour, should the case arise, to investigate any complaints related to the conduct of the Competition, their decision is final. Under no circumstances and at no time is PTV/DAWN under any obligation to enter into any correspondence regarding the Dream Team Competition.

  13. PTV/DAWN reserves the right to deny entry to any participant whose application, which in their opinion, fails to comply with the rules and regulations of the games or which contravenes the spirit of the Dream Team Competition.

  14. PTV/DAWN reserves the right to disqualify any entry or amend or waive the rules or cancel the Competition at any time in the event of any circumstances arising beyond their control or which make it desirable to do so.
