Rahul Dravid made his debut against England in 1996 at Lord's. Batting at
number seven he was unlucky to miss out on a hundred on debut, being caught
behind after making 95 runs. This stylish batsman from Karnataka has been
an integral part of the Indian batting ever since. These days he has the
additional responsibility of being the Indian vice-captain. It was his one
year stint with the English county Kent, where John Wright was working as
the team coach that opened up the possibility for the Kiwi to join the
Indian team.
