Javagal Srinath has shouldered most of the fast bowling burden for India in the past decade. He has had trouble with his bowling shoulder in the past and opted out of the One-Day International scheme of things. Now that the selectors are hard pressed with a clear lack of depth and experience in the pace department, Srinath has been asked to play in the shorter version of the game also. He will undoubtedly be the spearhead of the Indian bowling attack in the triangular ODI series in South Africa. His uncanny ability to hit the seam on the deck and dart the ball sharply in to the right-handed batsman is going to be an asset. Even though he is the senior most bowler in the side, Srinath is indeed still the quickest of the lot.
