Sanath Jayasuriya is the veteran among the three captains, a most popular one by all accounts. After a slow start with the bat as captain, he has been back among the runs, though not as explosive as immediately after the 1996 World Cup. He has led the way in the series with a fine innings against New Zealand. His bowling in the death against India was thoughtful and effective.
