Anil Kumble has been out of international duty for more than a
year now. He had a surgery done in South Africa to fix his
injured shoulder and has been making slow recovery. Through
the last year he has been recovering under the watchful eyes
of the Indian team physio Andrew Leipus. Kumble has been
selected for the tour of South Africa based on the Kumble's
self proclamation on his fitness. The ace leg spinner is
convinced that he is in top shape. "I am fine and raring to
go. I have not been experiencing any problem. I have bowled
over 125 overs in three major domestic tournaments during the
last two months." Though there has been apprehensions about
his fitness as Kumble has not been seen throwing the ball from
the deep. Dr Anant Joshi found that Kumble seemed fine except
for a "slight stiffness in his shoulders when he bowls."
Perhaps there is an untold story here and the Indians fan can
only hope for the best!
