The Standard Bank Triangular Tournament in the Summer Spice Series featuring South Africa, Indian and Kenya got underway on the 5th October in Johannesburg. Shaun Pollock won the toss and put India in to bat first. The decision almost backfired on the Proteas, Sourav Ganguly got off to a fantastic start and went to make a blazing hundred. The Indian skipper made 127 runs off 126 balls with the help of 14 boundaries and five huge sixes. Ganguly silenced his critics with his bat doing all the talking, playing shots on either sides of the wicket. The first wicket partnership with Sachin Tendulkar yielded 193 runs off 35.2 overs.
