Amay Khurasiya, the flamboyant lefthander from Jabalpur, has been recalled
to the Indian team after almost two years in the wilderness. Khurasiya
played 10 ODIs for India between March and September 1999 but never lived
up to the promise sparked by his debut against Sri Lanka at Pune when he
spanked 57 off 45 balls. Khurasiya was in excellent nick in last season's
Deodhar Trophy coming in as opener and giving Central Zone a frenetic
launch pad with some furious hitting. One-Day Internationals are a different
kettle of fish however and stepping into Sachin's shoes is going to be a
daunting prospect.
