Tendulkar scored six fifties in the year to take his overall tally of half-centuries in Test cricket to 30. He started the year with scores of 76 and 65 against Australia at Mumbai, a Test match that India lost in the space of three days. Tendulkar also made 74 against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo in the first innings and was instrumental in India winning that Test. The next score of fifty (69) came in the second Test at Harare, which India lost. Tendulkar was unlucky to miss out on a hundred twice against England at home; scoring 88 at Mohali in a winning cause and making 90 at Bangalore before being stumped for the first time in his career.
