CricInfo.com, the world's most popular cricket web site, is to broadcast exclusive live audio coverage from every match of the forthcoming ICC KnockOut, which will take place in Kenya between 3rd and 15th October. CricInfo was appointed by World Sport Group and News Corporation, under the terms of their newly-signed contract with the International Cricket Council, as hosts of the event's official website (www.iccko.cricinfo.com). CricInfo already hosts the ICC's web site (www.icc.cricket.org) as well as the official sites of seven of the ten Test playing countries.

The announcement about the commentary for the ICC KnockOut follows a busy summer for CricInfo's audio team. The schedule included the Test Match Series between England and West Indies; the NatWest Triangular Series involving England, West Indies and Zimbabwe; the matches between Sri Lanka and South Africa; the U19 series between England and Sri Lanka; and the Under 15 World Challenge.

The commentary team will have a distinctly international flavour and will include Colin Croft (West Indies), Chris Broad (England) and Neil Manthorpe (South Africa). The audio commentary will be supported by a host of online features to enhance listeners' enjoyment. Listeners can email the commentary team, chat to other fans, and access facts and figures about teams and players from CricInfo's extensive database. Online interactive competitions are planned for the tournament.

David Richards, Chief Executive of the ICC, said: "One of the key aims of the ICC KnockOut is to make cricket available to the largest possible potential audience. Working with CricInfo will give this tournament the highest possible profile on the Internet."

Chief Executive of CricInfo, Simon King, added: "Following on from our hugely successful and popular official internet coverage of the 1998 Wills International Cup in Dhaka, we are excited and encouraged to have been chosen by World Sport Group to host this prestigious event again on behalf of the ICC. In keeping with our ground-breaking tradition, this will be the first ever live Internet coverage from East Africa, and the first time a dedicated Internet commentary team has been put together for a global cricket event."

The commentary team is headed by CricInfo's Director of Cricket Operations Ralph Dellor who said of the latest deal: "Broadcasting live audio commentary on the Internet has proved very popular with CricInfo's audience. Throughout the summer we were inundated with emails from all over the world - from Finland to the Falklands - from cricket enthusiasts who were unable to follow the game but now can through CricInfo."
