CricInfo.com - The home of cricket on the Internet

CricInfo launches new homepage design
27th March 2002

CricInfo today annnounces the launch of a new homepage design. The new design is the first significant change of Cricinfo’s homepage for four years.

The new homepage is part of a series of site improvements CricInfo is making which started with redesigned CricInfo West Indies and CricInfo South African sub sites two weeks ago and the creation of a betting sub site. Further improvements will include a redesign of the majority of pages on the site including new sections for competitions, travel, equipment and book reviews.

The new homepage is only 32kb in size which should be 25% faster to load than the existing page. The page and graphics are at least half the size of the homepage of CricInfo’s competitors.

Alex Balfour, Chairman, said "CricInfo is one of the oldest sites on the net and some of our longest standing users have been with us for more than nine years. We knew that changing a design that is so familiar would be difficult. But I believe the new design is a triumph and represents a significant improvement".

William Turrell, Head of UK Production, said "We felt that the old design no longer provided a simple path to key information on the site, and did not showcase the many new services we offer."
