Graham McKechnie CricInfo.com, the world's leading cricket web site, registered 11.7 million page impressions on Friday 13th October as India beat South Africa in the semi-final of the ICC KnockOut tournament in Kenya. The previous record for daily traffic was just over nine million page impressions, for the semi-final of the World Cup when Australia defeated South Africa at Trent Bridge in June 1999. The ICC KnockOut as a whole proved to be extremely popular with CricInfo users, who could follow the events via live audio, text commentary and live ball-by-ball scorecards. A total of 51.5 million page impressions was recorded during the tournament, peaking on Friday, with the final on Sunday registering 7.8 million. The tournament's official web site, www.iccko.cricinfo.com, is part of the CricInfo network of sites, comprising seven of the ten Test playing countries, the ICC and several other first class sides worldwide. Simon King, Chief Executive of CricInfo said: "The ICC wanted this tournament to reach as many people as possible and the traffic figures show that not only did a very high number of people follow the tournament on the internet, but also that it was a truly global audience. "Although the Friday only involved India and South Africa, our traffic shows how people were logging on and listening in from all over the world and this was the case throughout the tournament. "We're anticipating that these high numbers will be maintained over the next few months. There's a lot of exciting cricket coming up, all of which will be covered on CricInfo, including the England tours of Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the West Indies in Australia and the CricInfo Women's World Cup in New Zealand in November and December."
