CRICINFO COMPLETES GLOBAL RESTRUCTURING 20 Nov 2001
CricInfo.com, the world's largest single-sport site, has completed its global restructure and has been reorganised into national and regional units. The global operation now falls into three distinct geographical profit centres. Alex Balfour, current Chairman and former Business Development Director, takes up the new position of Regional Manager: Europe, West Indies, Africa. Badri Seshadri takes up the position of Regional Manager: Asia and the Americas, while Adrian Motherway, formerly New Zealand CEO, becomes Regional Manager: Australasia. This team of three reports to Managing Director, Peter Griffiths. One of the keys to the recent growth is the success of the company's UK operation, which simultaneously announces a new operating structure. This new structure includes both new appointments and new responsibilities for senior staff. The commercial team is led by Alex Chamberlen, Director of Sales. Will Brown, formerly at Express Newspapers and Sporting Index and Jo-Anne Sunderland, formerly of Torrington Interactive, join as UK Account Managers. Former Head of Marketing Andrew Hall takes up his new role Head of UK Ventures with immediate effect. Tom Faulkner becomes Head of UK Business Development, and William Turrell moves from Senior Producer to Head of UK Production. Alex Balfour commented "Three months into our new business plan we are ahead of where we need to be to hit our March revenue targets. We think it's a sensible move to focus our UK staff exclusively on the UK market and we are quietly confident." Further investment, in the form of a convertible loan, has been received from investors Satyam Infoway (NASDAQ: SIFY) to drive CricInfo through to profitability. The Indian company originally took a 25% share in CricInfo last year. The success of CricInfo.com in terms of users continues apace. The site has achieved in excess of 3 billion page views since its inception in 1993, and hosts 8 of the 10 Test playing countries and the International Cricket Council, the governing body of world cricket.
