DARREN GOUGH TEAMS UP WITH CRICINFO New official web site for England fast bowler goes live 17 Jun 2001
Darren Gough's official web site (www.darrengough.com) launches today. The site, powered by CricInfo.com, will feature a wide range of features, including all the latest news about Goughie, photos, statistics and details of forthcoming events in his benefit season. Darren's fans will also be able to interact with England's star fast bowler by sending messages and questions to him via the site. Darren Gough said about the launch of the site: "I've always enjoyed interacting with the my fans at matches and the internet gives me a new way of doing this. CricInfo is the best cricket site around and so I'm delighted they'll be hosting my site for me." Darrengough.com marks a new direction for CricInfo. The world's leading cricket web site hosts eight official web sites of Test playing countries, including ecb.co.uk, baggygreen.com.au and PCB.cricinfo.com, but this will be the first official web site of an individual player. Alex Chamberlen, CricInfo's Sales Director said: "Darren is universally popular throughout the cricket world and is one of the game's highest profile performers. CricInfo is therefore a natural home for Darren's site as it offers immediate access to an audience of over 18 million fans in 180 countries. In the past we have focused on teams' web sites, but Goughie's appeal is powerful enough for us to make him the first of player to launch a personal site on our network."
