Graham McKechnie The new CricInfo-powered official England cricket site, www.ecb.co.uk, has quickly established itself as the English cricket followers' favourite. The traffic figures released today show that the site has already generated over 30 million page impressions, since its launch on 29th June. 20.5 million page impressions were recorded in July, which represents an increase of nearly 200 per cent over CricInfo's England site in July 1999, with 71 per cent of the traffic coming from the UK. The historic Friday of the Lord's Test, where all four innings occurred on the same day in a Test Match and the West Indies were bowled out for 54, was the most popular day on ecb.co.uk., with just under five million page impressions alone. The player in whom there has been most interest over the past month (with most visits to his profile page) is England new boy Marcus Trescothick, followed by veteran Alec Stewart. Shane Warne's presence at Hampshire may explain why their homepage is the most popular of all the CricInfo county sites. All the new features of the site, such as the audio commentary service, which includes some of the best-known names in cricket broadcasting (Tony Cozier, Jack Bannister, Ralph Dellor, Colin Croft and Neil Foster) have contributed to making the new site a success. Simon King, CricInfo's Chief Executive said: "The partnership between CricInfo and the ECB is proving to be a very successful one. It has enabled us to introduce a host of new features, which are already a tremendous success with our users. People from Venezuela to the Arctic Circle have been emailing the audio commentary service with questions and opinions about the matches, and especially to express their delight at being able to hear, from the far corners of the world, what's happening in the Tests." Terry Blake, Marketing Director of the ECB said: "The very high traffic levels we're seeing on the new site reflect both the success of the site and the success of the England cricket team. Cricket is a hugely popular global sport and these figures show again what a good platform the Internet is for the game." About ecb.co.uk: www.ecb.co.uk is the official home of English cricket. The site, powered by CricInfo, was launched in June 2000 and is the web site of the England and Wales Cricket Board and the MCC. For further information, please contact:
