Tail-EnderTail-ender homeFriday 21st - May Sledging with the Scots A quiet day in front of the box today as Tail-Ender recovers from his great Northern excursion. Tail-Ender had deliberately imposed a news blackout the day before, taking the phone off the hook, not picking up his email and even shooting his carrier pigeons to avoid any word of the Australia New Zealand encounter. Tail-Ender watches in astonishment as his video taped highlights reveal a well deserved Kiwi victory spearheaded by Roger Twose and Chris Cairns' Herculean efforts. Pre-tournament, the Aussies were a much fancied outfit, but fell to a highly professional Kiwi performance and may have seriously hampered their chances of booking an easy passage into the second round. West Indies make short work of Bangladesh to record their first win of the tournament, but Tail-Ender realises he has been a little remiss in his duties and forgotten to chronicle a little gem from the day before in his last report. During a lunch time circuit of the lovely ground at Chester-Le-Street, Tail-Ender had paused to watch a group of young Kwik Cricketers go through their paces. To his amazement several Scots supporters began to sledge the youngsters, with cries of "Wide!" and "Chucker!" and the ankle biters unused to such abuse, duly went off their game and looked as if they wanted to sneak off home and blub to mummy. I know the Scots are trying to play harder cricket, but surely this effort was taking things a shade too far? Still Australia well beaten and Tail-Ender's beloved Watford also make it to the play-offs for the Premiership. You can't argue with that and what a top couple of days sport it's truly been!
