Accompanying Jayasuriya was the battle-hardened veteran, Aravinda de Silva. Back in the one-day side, de Silva grabbed onto the chance with both hands, hitting a solid unbeaten 66. More impressive than any figures, though, was his mode of play. The bad balls were promptly dispatched to the fence, but even good balls were easily worked away for singles, which made Pakistan's job all the more difficult.
