Our player for March is a man who lead his country to Test match
success during the month, a success few would have predicted in its magnitude. And he lead his
country by example, with outstanding innings in India's two Tests victories over Australia,
including a sparkling 163 not out at Calcutta. Since being restored to the Indian captaincy in
January he has been at the head of a reinvigoration of his country's cricketing fortunes in both
Test and one-day internationals. Sharp fielding and result-oriented declarations have been
a feature of his play, culminating in the stunning innings-and-219-run victory at Eden Gardens.
