1996 World Cup Profile:Who of the world`s cricketing public has not heard of Jonty Rhodes! One of the worlds best fielders, Rhodes burst onto the international one-day scene during the 1992 World Cup. With his spectacular run-out of Inzaman-Ul-Haq during the tournament, Rhodes wrote his own page in the annuls of cricket folklore. An unorthodox batsmen, Rhodes plays many of his shots while "on the walk". This, when he is not in form often leads to his downfall. He particularly likes playing on the on-side but he can drive and cut. Rhodes is an integral part of South Africa`s one-day side not only with his fielding but also with his ability to score at a run-a-ball. Although not consistent in Test cricket, Rhodes has the knack of producing the scores when SA are in real trouble.help@cricinfo.com |
