1996 World Cup Profile:
Over 6 foot 5 inches and hailing from the town of Narromine, right-arm speedster Glenn McGrath came of age during the 1994/95 West Indies tour, and has now supplanted McDermott as Australia`s main strike bowler during the 1995/96 summer. McGrath uses his height to great advantage, and an extra yard of pace plus the discovery of an out-swinger in recent times has increased his hostility. His accuracy makes him a particularly effective limited-overs bowler, as he attains the twin virtues of economy and wicket-taking ability. McGrath`s determination and aggression can be overdone at times, as was evidenced by his infamous clash with opponent Matthew Hayden in last year`s World Series Cup, although this quality was invaluable in intimidating Ambrose and Walsh as they batted against him during the Caribbean tour. Like McDermott however, he can become sullen if things are not all go- ing his way.
