Dawn Sri Lanka 'A' square series

Sri Lanka 'A' scored a comprehensive 186-run victory inside three days to square the two-match Test series against Pakistan 'A' at Multan Cricket Stadium Wednesday.

Pakistan 'A', who were set reasonable a target of 244, were skittled out for just 57 in their second innings with majority of the batsmen falling to reckless strokes.

Qaiser Abbas top-scored with 17 while fellow left-handers Kamran Sajid and Asim Kamal each made 10. Five batsmen failed to trouble the scorers.

Left-arm pacer Sujeewa de Silva started the slide by removing Naved Latif and Bilal Asad off successive deliveries in his opening over for ducks.

After Tharanga Lakshitha had sent back Asim Kamal, Sri Lankan skipper Tilan Samaraweera got into the acts with his off-spinners. He finished with five for 16 in 9.5 overs.

In between, de Silva got rid of Yasir Arafat and Bazid Khan, also without scoring, to end up with four for 19 in 11 overs and a match haul of eight for 83.

Earlier, Sri Lanka 'A' lost their remaining seven wickets for the addition of 76 runs after resuming the penultimate day of the four-day tie on 199 for three.

Naveed Nawaz added four to his overnight 66 before he fell to Umar Gul. His 70 off 147 balls was laced with seven fours.

Mohammad Zahid, bidding to regain his place in Test squad for the Australian series, claimed four wickets Wednesday. Seven batsmen in Sri Lankan second innings were adjudged LBW.

The two teams play three one-dayers with the first match scheduled for Multan on Saturday while the remaining ties will be played at Faisalabad on Oct 1 and Lahore Oct 2.
