Somerset looking to recruit new young coaches

Somerset County Cricket Club are staging an Introduction to Cricket Coaching course during this coming October that is specifically aimed at young cricketers between the ages of fourteen and twenty years of age.

The sessions will be held at the Centre of Excellence at the County Ground in Taunton, and will take place between 2pm and 4.30pm on Saturday's October 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th.

The intention of the course is to introduce young cricketers to coaching with the emphasis very much on developing communication, personal and cricketing skills.

All the necessary equipment will provided for those who do not already have their own, and all that is required are cricket whites or tracksuit trousers and soft soled non-marking footwear.

The Introduction to Cricket Coaching course will be staffed by fully qualified coaches and led by SCCC'c Brian Hoyle and Ben Wellington.

The cost of the course will be £50 and further details of the course which is expected to generate considerable interest can be obtained by contacting Guy Wolfenden at the Centre of Excellence on 01823 352266.

Somerset Cricket Development Officer Andrew Moulding said: "This is proving to be a very popular course among young cricketers who want to find out more about the game and get a start in the coaching field."
