Tiffen on board as Women's Development Officer
Canterbury Cricket Association - 24 October 2002
Haidee Tiffen has been appointed as the Women's Development Officer for Canterbury Cricket for the next six months. She will be based at the CCA offices, while also spending time in the CCA District Associations and coaching at clubs and schools around Christchurch.
The main tasks which Tiffen will undertake include assisting with sustaining the women's club cricket competition, recruiting new players, providing opportunities for women to undertake coaching and umpire education and the promotion of women's cricket in the local media.
Tiffen has already arranged to visit three of the five District Associations, where she will promote the women's game with a view to developing adult women's competitions. She has also started coaching at the clubs around Christchurch who have women's teams and has been attending the Wednesday afternoon Secondary School competition to provide players with information on how to go about joining a club.
Canterbury Cricket is thrilled to have a person of Haidee's calibre undertaking such a role. Haidee was a member of the TelstraClear White Ferns CricInfo Women's World Cup-winning team and has just been named captain of the State Canterbury Magicians for the coming season, so she is extremely well respected in cricketing circles. She also has the ability to relate well to any group that she is working with and is the ideal person to be undertaking such a position.
