Four-day cricket is a great boost to cricket in Zimbabwe. We had some remarkable matches last season, in particular the one at Mutare when Mashonaland beat Manicaland after being forced to follow on, and we had two more good ones last weekend. CONTENTS:
It was too much to expect another match of the same remarkable quality at Mutare, but it was at least good to see Manicaland refusing to give up after conceding a total of over 600, and fighting back well enough to save an innings defeat. At Queens Sports Club there was an excellent closely-fought match between Matabeleland and Midlands, which ended with Manicaland 43 runs short of their target with two wickets left. According to Gavin Rennie, they might well have won had they not been too afraid of defeat. Daily reports of these two matches appeared on CricInfo and in this issue we also give the views of two century-makers in these matches, Gavin and Dion Ebrahim. At the same time we took the opportunity to update the biographies of these two players. This weekend Mashonaland meet Matabeleland at home, while Midlands play Manicaland at Kwekwe Sports Club. Those matches are previewed in this issue, and we include records of matches between the teams concerned. © CricInfo LTD
