Gillespie in danger of missing second Test
AAP - 8 October 2002
Australian bowler Jason Gillespie in danger of missing the second Test
which starts in Sharjah on Friday.
His injury curse has returned as the paceman broke down with a calf
muscle injury just five balls before Australia wrapped up the first
cricket Test against Pakistan in Sri Lanka.
Gillespie will be assessed on Tuesday.
Australia is due to fly to Dubai on Wednesday and if Gillespie is ruled
out of both Tests, it is possible a replacement will be flown out from
Australia to cover for the third Test at least.
However, Australia has Andy Bichel in the squad as well as off-spinner
Nathan Hauritz, who could yet make his Test debut later this week if the
Sharjah pitch is typically dry and flat.
