Matt Bulbeck earns a new three year deal with the Cidermen
Richard Walsh - 3 October 2002

This morning Somerset released the contract list for the 2003 season.

Left arm seamer Matt Bulbeck, the only Somerset bowler to exceed 50 wickets in the championship to prove that he is now thankfully back to full fitness is rewarded with a further three year contract.

Young Devonian opener Matt Wood who so narrowly missed out on a 1000 runs in championship cricket in only his second season has been awarded another two years.

At the other end of the age spectrum thirty nine year old Peter Bowler who has been one of the batting mainstays since joining Somerset in 1995 has also been awarded a further two years.

Second string wicket-keeper Carl Gazzard who made his first class debut earlier in the year during which he kept tidily has been given another two year contract.

Jamie Cox has been given a one year contract, which means that 2003 will be the Tasmanian's last year at Taunton.

There are also one year contracts for five of the younger players: Gareth Andrew, an all rounder from Glastonbury, Wes Durston who played against West Indies A and made a couple of NUL appearances in 2002, Neil Edwards who also played against West Indies A, Michael Munday a leg spinner who hails from Cornwall, and who has just returned from a coaching session with Terry Jenner in Australia and all rounder Tom Webley.
