Tendulkar, Zaheer Khan fit for New Zealand series Staff Reporter - 23 November 2002
Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan have been passed fit for the 47-day tour of New Zealand which begins on December 1, SK Nair, secretary, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), told reporters on Friday. Both Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan had pulled out of the ongoing seven-match India-West Indies one-day international series with injuries. Tendulkar had been carrying a hamstring injury that he aggravated during his incandescent hundred in the second innings of the final Test at Kolkata, while Zaheer Khan had been laid low by a shin injury. But Nair said that the BCCI's doctor Anant Joshi had found that the duo had staged a full recovery after a fitness test at Mumbai. "They have been declared fit by the Board's doctor Dr Anant Joshi and will be available for New Zealand tour where the Indians would be playing two Test matches and seven one-dayers apart from a three-day side game," Nair said. © CricInfo
