PWCA report on the National QEA Women Cricket Trophy 2002
Pakistan Women Cricket Association - 11 November 2002
The Pakistan Women's Cricket Association (PWCA) has been regularly organizing
the National Quaid-e-Azam Women Cricket Trophy since 1982. This year we hosted
the annual Quaid-e-Azam Women Cricket Trophy 2002 at Lahore's Race Course Park
from 28 September to 5 October 2002. The final match was played in Faisalabad
at the Iqbal Stadium. A detailed report is given below:
- All the matches were played on League basis (30-overs)
- Four Provincial teams participated in this tournament
- Punjab Greens and Sindh Women Cricket teams played the Final in Iqbal Stadium
on 5th October 2002, starting at 10.00 a.m.
- The Punjab Greens won and Sindh was Runners up
- The following players were declared as 'Women of the Match' for the different
matches and also the 'Player of the Tournament'.
- 1st Match 'Women of the Match': Sana Javed (Punjab Greens) 68 runs off
76 balls and one wicket.
- 2nd Match 'Women of the Match': Nillma Hussain (Punjab Whites) 12 off 33
balls and four wickets
- 3rd Match 'Women of the Match': Shamsa Hashmi (Punjab Greens) 5 wickets
for 13 runs
- 4th Match 'Women of the Match': Humaira Masroor (Sindh ) 48 runs off 52
balls and 2 wickets for 23 runs
- 5th Match 'Women of the Match': Taskeen Qadir (Punjab Greens) 65 runs off
64 balls
- 6th Match 'Women of the Match': Humaira Masroor (Sindh) 56 runs off 50
balls and 2 wickets
- Final Match 'Women of the Match': Taskeen Qadir (Punjab Greens) 61 off
69 balls and 4 wickets
- 'Player of the Tournament': Taskeen Qadir (Punjab Greens)
The Guests of Honour for the Quaid-e-Azam Women Cricket Trophy-2002 were:
- Opening Ceremony: Mr. Zahid Bashir Former Marketing Director PCB
- Mrs. Rashida Ghaznavi, President NWFP Women Cricket Association
- Mr. Ahmad Amir, Director Marketing PHA
- Mr. Rafaqat Sulariya, Director PHA
- Azraa Parveen, Secretary General PWCA
- Mrs. Tabassum Ilyas, Member Tournament Committee, PWCA
- Mrs. Nabila Khan Member Tournament Committee, PWCA
- The DCO Faisalabad had kindly consented to be the Chief Guest. Many other
senior officials were invited who also witnessed the match.
- TV recordings of the final match were broadcast on TV channels. Photographs
and clipping from the newspapers are available for retention and information.
