Vics finish off Cup win over champions AAP - 11 November 2002
MELBOURNE, Nov 11 AAP - Victoria beat Queensland by four wickets today in the Pura Cup cricket match at the MCG. Leg-spinner Cameron White scored the winning runs, taking Victoria to 6-163, 45 minutes into the morning session on the fourth day. White was unbeaten on 29 and Darren Berry made five. It was the first time Victoria had beaten Pura Cup champion Queensland in a four-day game since March 1996. Brad Hodge was the only batsman out this morning as Victoria acquired the 23 runs it needed, falling to a great catch from Martin Love at second slip off Ashley Noffke for 33. Victoria gained six points, taking it to the top of the Cup ladder, while Queensland gained two. Victoria dismissed Queensland yesterday in its second innings for 139, while Victoria made 164 in reply to the Bulls' first innings of 187. © 2002 AAP
