Busy winter for Austrian Cricket Michael Bailey - 9 November 2002
Whilst the nights and wintry weather might be drawing in at the moment, cricket is far from being put into hibernation for the winter in Austria. With a host of administrative meetings, clubs running indoor training sessions and the national team holding training sessions in the run up to the ECC Indoor Championships, which are to be held in Herning, Denmark, in February, there is a lot happening.
EDP Coach Dave Gelling will be visiting Vienna during the winter to run coaching courses as part of the Regional Coach Placement Initiative visits, during which he will also be visiting Slovenia and Croatia. All clubs will be sending representatives in a bid to then kick-start coaching programmes within individual clubs.
The Open League and ACA Trophy programme will be decided shortly, with the distinct possibility of new teams entering the fold. Umpiring seminars and an ACU&S Stage 1 course are also planned which will see the number of qualified umpires increase, with all clubs again participating, with a batch of umpires gaining qualifications ahead of the 2003 season. © Austrian Cricket Association
