Shaun Marsh stakes claim for recall at WACA 7 November 2002
Western Warriors batsman Shaun Marsh has staked claims for a recall to first-class cricket to play the Southern Redbacks in a Pura Cup match at the WACA Ground this weekend. Marsh, just 19, made an impressive 42 in his ING Cup limited-overs debut against the Redbacks last night. The Redbacks won the match by 11 runs in a thrilling finish. Warriors captain Mike Hussey is enthusiastic about the depth of quality in his entire squad despite last night's season opener loss. "It's great to have that depth," said Hussey. "Shaun's in the 12 - I don't know who's going to be 12th man yet, but it's good to have that depth." The Redbacks will conduct an optional training session at the WACA Ground from 3pm on Thursday. Redbacks coach Greg Chappell will be available to Media for an interview shortly after the start of that session. Redbacks: Greg Blewett (captain), Chris Davies, John Davison, Shane Deitz, David Fitzgerald, Damien Fleming, Ryan Harris, Mark Higgs, Ben Johnson, Mick Miller, Paul Rofe and Brad Young Warriors: Michael Hussey (captain), Ryan Campbell (vice-captain), Jo Angel, Michael Clark, Murray Goodwin, Brad Hogg, Shaun Marsh, Scott Meuleman, Matthew Nicholson, Marcus North, Chris Rogers and Brad Williams Umpires: Andrew Craig, Ian Lock © Western Australian Cricket Association
