Somerset launch their Mini Sabres Pre School Cricket Club
SOMERSET - 3 November 2002

You are never too young to start to learn to play cricket according to the new Mini Sabres Pre School Cricket Club that has just been launched by Somerset.

The Club has just started recruiting boys and girl between the ages of three and five years old for the cricket based sessions that are being staged on five consecutive Monday afternoons starting on January 20th 2003.

Guy Wolfenden from the Centre of Excellence told me: "These sessions are designed to improve hand/eye coordination and basic cricketing skills, with the emphasis on fun and games."

He continued: "We are expecting a lot of interest in our Mini Sabres Club so any body who wants to apply or receive further information should contact me on 01823 35566 as soon as possible."

At the other end of the age spectrum Somerset Youth Development Officer Pete Sanderson is looking for nominations from clubs and schools for outstanding under 16 and 17 year olds for winter trials.

Any club or school who wishes to recommend a young player should write to Pete Sanderson at The County Ground in Taunton with profile details including teams represented and top performances.
