Miandad unhappy with PCB 7 May 2002
Former captain Javed Miandad was disappointed by the way he was treated by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for Monday evening's Test Cricket Glories dinner held in connection with the golden jubilee celebrations. Miandad, who was honored for his batting record (8,832 from 124 Tests with 23 centuries), said he had not been officially invited for the function. "I did not receive any formal or official invitation from the PCB. I only got telephone calls from PCB officials on Monday morning," Miandad complained. The PCB dismissed the claims and said invitation was sent to his Lahore residence. But Miandad said the PCB knew he was not in Lahore for a last couple of weeks and that's precisely why he had not attended the domestic structuring committee meeting at Lahore last week. "Besides, if the PCB are honoring me, for which I am thankful to them, they should have sought my availability and then confirmation if I was coming. Miandad recalled that when the PCB was celebrating 10 years of World Cup victory, he was formally invited. © Dawn
