Somerset lose out to Worcestershire in their final Benson's match
Richard Walsh - 6 May 2002

Somerset completed their disappointing 2002 Benson and Hedges campaign when they were beaten by Worcestershire at Taunton today in a rain affected match.

Morning rain delayed the start, but when play eventually got underway at 1 o'clock Somerset scored 126 of 9 in their 38 overs with Rob Turner making 30, Marcus Trescothick 20, Keith Dutch 16 and Pete Trego scoring a spirited unbeaten 15.

After a further stop for rain the Worcestershire target was reduced to 121 from 32 overs that they achieved with ease passing the required total for the loss of three wickets with 13 overs to spare.

Somerset will be anxious to forget their final Benson's campaign that has seen them finish bottom of their regional group having lost four out of their five matches.

The Cidermen get back to county championship action on Wednesday when they entertain 2001 champions Yorkshire at Taunton.
