Second India-West Indies ODI washed out
Anand Vasu - 26 May 2002
Without a single ball being bowled the second one-day international between India and West Indies was washed out. The pitch at Sabina Park at Kingston, Jamaica has proved to be too watery and wet for the players' liking.
Fans too had to deal with disappointment as heavy rain, first overnight and then well into the morning of the match, meant that there was no chance of play.
Umpires Billy Doctrove and David Shepherd did not stay at the ground for long, stopping by merely to confirm what was already known before heading back to the hotel. Although the official word came half an hour before the scheduled start, it was amply clear much earlier that no play would be possible.
The bandwagon now moves to Barbados where the third one-dayer is scheduled for the 29th of May. Hopefully by then the clouds will clear and the rain will stop.
