Cricket Players' Association acting for first-class cricketers New Zealand Cricket - 15 May 2002
New Zealand Cricket, the six Major Associations and the New Zealand Cricket Players' Association have entered into a process focusing on defining future contractual terms and conditions for New Zealand's first-class and international cricketers. "The Cricket Players' Association has a clear mandate from its 100-plus New Zealand first-class and international members to enter this process and we are working alongside New Zealand Cricket on behalf of those members," said New Zealand Cricket Players' Association executive manager Heath Mills. "The relationship between the organisations and tone of negotiations so far have been very positive," he said. New Zealand Cricket chief executive Martin Snedden and Mills said it would be inappropriate to make comment about specific points for discussion until the conclusion of the process. "The nature of the negotiations mean it would be imprudent to discuss particulars at this stage," said Snedden. "However, I can say all parties involved are committed to further developing a professional cricketing environment which provides for terms and conditions that are fair and reasonable to all and in the best interests of cricket in New Zealand." © New Zealand Cricket
