Sports minister Johnston Fernando has appointed six members to the interim committee running the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) following the resignation of five members.
According to Fernando, the new members are Nimal Welgama, Jaliya Jayasuriya, Dileepa Wickramasinghe, Ranil Abeynaiake, Guy de Alwis, and Ranjith Madurusinghe.
The appointments had been made after discussions with top government officials and cricket board authorities.
De Alwis and Madurusinghe have played the game at the highest level while Abeynaiake, who also played competitive cricket, is the curator of SSC. The other three are businessmen.
Although the Interim Committee originally had only ten members with the new appointments it has now increased to 11.
Fernando revealed that former Test cricket Roshan Mahanama had also tended his resignation following the government's decision to nominate Thilanga Sumathipala as the standby representative to the ICC's executive board meeting at London in June.
Kushil Gunasekera, Tryphon Mirando, Sidath Wettimuny and Michael Tissera resigned on Monday sighting the same reasons.
The Minister is yet to name the treasurer and the secretary of the committee.
